This year we are excited to announce: Ella is coming back and remarkably, she will be joined by her parents, Raz and Ohad.

For more than two years we carried the pain, waited, prayed and hoped for the safe return of our People. When we last saw Ella, we prayed with her for the safe return of her entire family. We are so pleased to share with you that at this year’s Menorah in the D, we will come together to express gratitude together with Ella and her parents, finally together as a family after surviving October 7th and Hamas captivity. 

Ella was at Menorah in the D  2023 when she shared her story of surviving the October 7th attack by hiding in a shelter for more than 17 hours. Her mother, Raz, had just been released (as part of a deal in November 2023) and we prayed for her father, Ohad’s, return. He came home this past February after a total of 491 days in captivity. Am Yisrael Chai! 

As a community, let’s stand together and welcome their family into our Detroit family. Let’s illuminate our city with gratitude, love and light and show true Michigan hospitality by showing up, together.
